I ran into my childhood friend yesterday .We exchanged about our past . Being the last of ten siblings to my parents, courtesy demanded of him to enquire about all of us in the family. I was born as the last of the clan. My friend enquired of everyone of us in a chronological order. Every question with respect to their existence was followed by the same answer “He/She is no more”.He praised the dead to the skies and I had to remind him that they were much above the skies. 🤣 He told me that they were the best of people he had ever met. A message on a person’s obituary is either true or false. It may arise out of true grief or sycophancy arising out of compulsion and demands of the society. Once we are dead , how can we ever read what is written about us. I broke the tradition and requested him “Please write truthfully about me on my obituary when I am alive. Please do not dwell on my good qualities but bring to light the defects I have. This will give me an opportunity for me to mend myself for the better either in my present birth or future births.” He was startled and remarked”You are mad”. I laughed aloud and told him”Glad that you have identified one defect in me to write in my obituary.”It is best to know what we are and what we are not before we die To reach that stage only our friends and enemies can help us. It is “High time that the Old Order changeth yielding place to the New.”Looking forward to all to comply with my request.🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
