My Conversations with the Road

The ride this morning was knobbly, thanks to the tempestuous weather. The incessant rains and potholed roads are spine’s worst adversary. I turned around and asked the road a couple of questions. ” Why are you being so cruel? Why are you making my journey so miserable? ” The road smirked and replied immediately “You are calling me inconsistent?? This is like the pot calling the kettle black. Have you ever thought that we are way better than all you humans? We are better than the human mind which is volatile and mercurial. Humans sting fellow humans with words, actions and emotions. This attitude of yours prevails in you despite all of you having so many avenues to remain stable and spread love and courtesy. When will humans learn the importance of being accountable for their actions, accept situations as it is and learn to embrace everything and everyone with equanimity. After you people change we also fall in line with you and change for the better” . Tolerance is a virtue. Tolerate fellow humans equally as you accept and tolerate the bumpy roads in the journey called “Life”. I was ashamed and walked ahead to the hospital with my head hung in shame .
