Have been practising the art of Allopathic medicine for the last 35 years. Every patient and every incident has always been an experience for me to travel wider in the province of Wisdom. A couple of days ago an interesting incident happened which provoked in me the question typed as the title. This person had been under my care for the last seven years for an Arthritis which is not curable but controllable. Every consult with him was emotionally draining because he was always convinced that he was not improving and he was optimistically pessimistic that he will never improve . He asked me “Will I die?” Well the answer was in the positive since how one can hide a Law of Existence. He then asked me whether he will die due to Arthritis or some other cause. I am not the soothsayer of Shakespeare to predict when , how and where a person will die . At one point I was getting disturbed emotionally and I told him.”This consultation is becoming very stressful for me .”. He immeadiately reacted and told me “I want to live long..”Humour is an important weapon to get out of any situation. I replied immediately ”If you want to live long at 44 years I want to live longer at 64 years..” Immediately his wife remarked “I want my husband to live.” I Immediately reacted and told him with a smile “Does it mean that my wife wants me to die and not to live..”He also laughted after 7 years and left the room happy. It was then I realised that I should have become a Veterinary Doctor where the patients do neither converse or crib. Any way my professional journey goes on and I will be to back to work tomorrow as an Alllopathic doctor🤣🤣🤣
Should I have become a Veterinary Doctor?
