I was swimming one day in a beautiful brook. I was ecstatic to play in the water. I expected every drop of water which made my body wet to the bone to hold on to my body. The blissful waters flowed away from me without reciprocating the love I fostered on it. I was upset. my tears got drowned in the current of the brook. It is then I realised the futility of expectations. In a similar way we get attached to many sources of pleasure expecting them to be attached permanently to us. We are disappointed and miserable when those sources of pleasure get detached from us. The Brook taught me the most important lesson of “ not getting attached to expectations.”
