How to win an Argument?

Iwas an innocent spectator to a heated argument between two friends of mine. The topic was so ingnificant that it had no relevance to a fruitful existence. Suddenly they pounced on me asking me for a final judgement. I was confident that my judgement will trigger another argument into which I also will be drawn in . I asked them “How will you win an argument?”They were silent and finally requestedme to give my answer. I replied”The best way to win an argument is either not to get into it or just lose it so that you win it”. My friends remarked that I was insane and spineless. I told them “When one becomes spineless and insane it is the best sign of bliss and I am happy not to argumentative.”
