Karma of Death

Doctors are not only involved in the care of the new born but equally so in the care of the dying. Recently I was involved in the care of a dying patient in the intensive care unit. The elderly female patient caught hold of my hands , tears trickled from her eyes and she told me sporting a divine smile “Dear Doctor, my dear and near ones want me to live for their convenience but I want you to inform them that I am equally ambitious to die for my convenience.” I smiled empathetically , closed my eyes and prayed to the Creator to do what HE though was the best for her. I too am humane and am not far away from facing a similar challenging situation like her. Why only I ? All of us are equally at risk to experience what this patient was going through. The Law of Karma functions in a peculiar way which is beyond human comprehension.
