My dad was a leading Lawyer who was well versed in the scriptures. One fine morning he told me “Start reading the Bhagavad Gita from today.” .Going through the turbulence of my adolescence at 16 years of age with a rebellious attitude towards advice , I displayed my unhappiness in my facial expression. My dad responded to my emotional aversion by telling me “My dear son. It is best to read the Bhagavad Gita at the age of sixteen years and lead a righteous life upto sixty years instead of reading at sixty years like me and attempting to become wise when the sword of Death is hanging above my neck .”I followed his word to the letter and the Gita was the first and last book I read because the Gita by itself is a reservoir of infinite wisdom. “Thank you Dad . We will meet one day in the celestial world. Please advise me which book I should adopt as my next Gospel. Do not forget to read “ Lord Chesterfield’s Letters to his son”, a book to possess , read , chew the cud and translate into practise.🙏
