Will Speaking confer Immortality on Me?

Had been to a meeting.I met my friends. They asked me “Why you are not coming to the meetings? The next generation will neither know you or remember you if are not seen or heard?”. I replied “I am already on the path of forgetting my own self. Then where does the question of others remembering me arise?.”Our concepts of existence is indeed shallow and short sighted.😩
