Wisdom from a Hearing Aid

Of late inanimate objects have become My Teachers. Well I had posted some posts titled Wisdom from Utensils earlier. Couple of months ago an elderly gentleman came along with his NRI daughter for consultation. Now a days patients and their relatives are more knowledgeable than qualified Doctors because they have been trained by Dr Google  Who is a personification of Infinite knowledge. The elderly gentleman was diagnosed with a rare disease and I with my academic pride in the name of counselling them  delivered a scholarly lecture for half an hour to reach a stage when I ran out of breath and needed ventilator support.. In a few seconds my ego was deflated and I had to eat humble pie. The elderly gentleman laughed aloud and sarcastically told me”Doctor I am deaf and I forgot to switch on my hearing aid.”I was short of having a cardiac arrest for having wasted my oxygen for nothing ..As expected both he and his knowledgeable  daughter asked me to repeat all that I  had said. At that time the World Cup football match was being screened and I harnessed my sense of wit and humour and replied “No action replay.”. Immediately the Hearing Aid came to life and told me”Hi Doc. A few weeks you had posted that everyone has two options to choose when someone speaks. They are either to Hear and Listen or Hear but do not Listen. This elderly gentleman has taught you the third option never to hear and I am giving you the option to hear or not to hear depending on your choice . “The hearing aid finally told me “Ensure that you are heard before you speak “.🤣🤣
